The Liebster Award

Friday, August 18, 2017

I have been nothing short of completely overwhelmed by the amount of support The Tipsy Castle has received so far. There has been an outpouring of love from friends, family, readers and blogging community. Being so new to blogging, I am absolutely shocked and beside myself to have been nominated for the Liebster Award by one of my fellow bloggers. A special thanks to Thomas from The Life of Sandy for the nomination!

Most people probably have no idea what The Liebster Award is, and that's okay. This award is given to bloggers by bloggers for engaging readers and creating valuable content. It was created as a way to help new bloggers stimulate their sites and gain exposure early on in the process. Suffice to say, to have been blogging for less than a month, I am more than incredibly thrilled and thankful to have been nominated for this award. This nomination goes to show how engaging your audience and community can bring great things, even early on.

As part of the Liebster Award rules, Thomas has designated a set of questions to be answered by each nominee. We are also required to nominate other new bloggers for future awards and have them answer and completely different set of questions.

My nominees for amazing new blogs:

The Cup of JOJO

Life with Kat and Cal

Kimberly Love

Vintage Feminist

So This is Life

Krista the Millennial

What is the most extreme thing you have ever done?

It may sound silly to some, but the most extreme thing I have ever done is have a child. Yes, I have experienced extreme sports, roller coasters, a couple of near death situations... but when it comes down to it, I have given life to another human. I sacrificed my body for almost a year to create a living, breathing, amazing child. It does not get more extreme than that, in my humble opinion.

What is your favorite book?

My mother will hate this, but in all reality, my favorite book is "Are You There, Vodka? It's Me, Chelsea" by Chelsea Handler. I can remember reading the first chapter in the middle of a crowded plane and quite literally having to cover my face with my sweatshirt, because I was laughing hysterically. There are few things in life that can keep me in complete stitches, and Chelsea Handler nailed it. If you've never read it, do yourself a favor and purchase the ON SALE copy here: Are You There, Vodka? It's Me, Chelsea

For what in your life do you feel the most grateful for?

My daughter, hands down. The Good Lord knows that child can give me fits and test my patience more than anyone or anything in the world, but I wouldn't trade her for anything. One smile, one hug, one tear - that's all it takes to melt my sometimes frozen-feeling heart. She brings more joy to my life than I ever thought possible.

Give a tip to your fellow bloggers.

Just do it. Whether you are in the research phase or trying to decide if your next post is worthy of being shared - just do it. There are no real rules to blogging. The concept was created as an outlet for feelings and thoughts. There is no one there to tell you what you should or shouldn't do, when it comes down to it. Go with your gut. If you want to talk about a subject, then talk about it, and don't look back. Blogging is a wonderful form of self-expression, so use it as such.

Why did you start blogging?

I honestly don't know. My entire life, I've had to have some sort of creative outlet outside of what I do for work. Don't get me wrong, I'm completely committed to my career and will continue to be. I just always find myself reaching out for something to plan, create or work on. Blogging has given me a chance to check all those things off my list. I am in complete control of what this is and what it turns into. How many other things in life can I say that about? None.

What is at the top of your bucket list?

Truth - I want to live in Cinderella's Castle right in the middle of the Magic Kingdom. Reality - that's not going to happen. Unless by some miracle they invite me to live there, I'd really settle for just spending the night in there for a couple of nights. But hey, if they want to invite me to move in... I'm down.

What is the strangest food you have ever eaten?

I don't know about the strangest thing I've ever eaten in my entire life, because let's be honest... we were all toddlers once. I will say, I absolutely love eating Miracle Whip or mayo on pizza. Yes, I know, I'm disgusting. I hear it all of the time. I'm weird, get over it.

Is there anything in your life you regret?

Absolutely. I know the diplomatic thing to say is that I have no regrets, but anyone who truly says that knows deep down they are lying. I regret a ton of things. I regret lying to my parents just to get them off my back as a teenager. I regret letting a friend take the fall for notes that both of us were passing back and forth in class. I regret working too much on certain days that I should've been relaxing with my family. I regret making rash decisions when I shouldn't have. I regret giving people 72 chances, when I knew it wasn't worth it after the 2nd. I regret not speaking up. I regret saying "I'm fine", when really I was breaking on the inside. I regret not telling the people that I love how much I truly love them as often as I should. I regret more and more every day. But I refuse to live in my regrets. All you can do is pick up where you are, and be better.

How did you pick your blogs name?

Honestly, as silly as it sounds, it just made sense to me. I was sitting on the couch with an afternoon glass of wine and daydreaming of Disney World. I was thinking, "I should live in that castle". Then it just hit me. I wish I had a more inspirational meaning behind the name, but let's be honest, I like wine and Disney. End of story.

What are the 3 things you cannot live without?

I feel like this is a loaded question. The obvious answers are Family and God. However, because we all know the obvious, I'm going to answer with the less obvious things that I would be a complete mess without. Music - good gracious don't ever take away my music. It has the ability to control my mood or be controlled by my mood. There is a song for every feeling in the world. Food - pray for your soul if you ever cause me to miss out on food. "Hangry" doesn't even come close to the wrath. Ability to spend time with friends - I have quite literally caught myself in the middle of a mental breakdown stemming completely from a lack of one-on-one time with my best friend. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy my quiet time just like everyone else. However, if I start going more than a few days without being around people that I genuinely care about, I truly start to freak out. It's a condition. I'm dealing with it.
